Here's a testimonial from a young woman who attended the Working in Hospitality Career Info Evening on Feb. 28 at EEC!

The service industry is one of the fastest- growing job areas in Leeds and Grenville. Recently, The Employment and Education Centre offered a Working In Hospitality Career Info Evening in which I attended. At first thought, I believed that it would be a long, dull information evening and signed up in good faith but really did not want to attend.
         As I got into the Employment Education Centre I was warmly welcomed by someone at the front desk which gave me good hope. Soon there after everyone who had came for the evening had taken their seats and waited the arrival of the employers the EEC had asked to be there.
         As the employers started up I checked the time and thought to myself this is going to be a long evening and how I would not gain any knowledge from going. Each spoke about who they are, what they do, what skills employers look for and so on and so forth. At the end of each employer we had the chance to ask them questions. There were a variety of employers there from the City Of Brockville to HK Travel Centre- HMS Travel Centres, Home Depot and Comfort Inn.
         During this time I slowly but surely started writing down what each individual was saying making key points on everything. Gradually by the middle of the speeches I was getting more inspired in what they had to say. The mood in the room was very comfortable, everyone seem to be enjoying themselves from the employers to the people who came to listen to the EEC people who offered this Information Evening, even laughing and making jokes as one point. I was really starting to enjoy this!
      By the end of the Hospitality Career Info Evening I had pages upon pages full of great techniques, interviewing skills and lists on what they look for from job seekers any and everything to help apply myself for my future. The Hospitality Career Info Evening gave me the passion and drive to want to put everything I had learned into use. I left the evening in a better mood then before showing up. It was a very exciting and informative evening to say the lease.
       I believe these types of information evenings are definately beneficial to any age group any race any gender and are worth bring more and more to the table.
