Taking Control of Your Job Search: Is your job search not working for you? Come in and find out the most effective approach to securing employment by going after the unadvertised jobs. This workshop is for all job seekers and is an essential step to success. Effective Resumes and Cover Letters: Will your resume open the door to exciting job opportunities? Find out how to target your resume to a specific job and learn how to write an effective cover letter that entices the employer into reading your resume. Interviewing Skills: Overcome the fear of the Interview. Understand the different types of interviews, how to handle key questions and make a good impression.  Learn how to be confident and comfortable with the interview process.  Become aware of the steps involved in ‘marketing yourself’ to a potential employer, from the first contact through the interview and into the job. Interactive Computer and Resume Clinic: This clinic will be adapted to the needs of the participants. If you are unfamiliar with the computer, you will be given basic tips and techniques to help you become more confident using it in your job search, using Word, formatting and e-mail. When comfortable with this, you will be provided with web sites that will give you labour market information and assist you in doing company research to find job opportunities.  If you have basic computer skills, you will be given an opportunity to take responsibility for the development of your resume with assistance from the facilitator. You will use the program WinWay to design and format your resume, and select information to target your resume to specific jobs. Request for Training / Second Career: Have you met with an EEC Counsellor who has completed your needs assessment? Do you need re-training? If you are eligible for financial assistance, provided by Employment Ontario under the Skills Development Program, an EEC Counsellor will recommend that you attend one of these workshops. The level of funding is negotiated on an individual basis. Smart Serve: If you are seeking employment where you will be serving alcoholic beverages, Ontario law states that you must have passed the Smart Serve course. Taking it at EEC is convenient and meets all requirements for Smart Serve Certification.      Cost: $30.00 for materials and test. WHMIS: This workshop will give you a basic understanding of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. You will learn how to keep yourself and your co-workers safe by knowing how to identify and handle situations where hazardous materials are involved in the workplace.
